THE VALUES BEHIND THE CALLSIGN

Our Shared World

M3JWK will speak peace unto the world.

My adaptation of the BBC’s “Nation shall speak peace unto nation”. A personal aspiration, not an official BBC statement or affiliation.

A MESSAGE FROM JOHN W. KIRBY, M3JWK

Understand your own value. Value your own ideas. Maintain your own ideals.

#IntegrityMatters

Your sexuality, gender, colour, creed, race, religion, education, nationality or past does not determine your worth. What matters is striving to be the best version of yourself that you can be.

Together, we are human beings. We all share one journey from birth to death. That journey has millions of routes, but we live on one planet, under one Sun and one Moon, beneath one canopy and breathing one air. (And yes, I know QI might have something to say about the Moon.)

You can be anything you want to be and strive to achieve what you set your mind to, although opportunities and circumstances are not the same for everyone. That is all the more reason to help one another.

People can change. A criminal past does not have to mean a criminal future. Everyone deserves to be judged fairly for the person they are becoming, not simply the mistakes they may have made.

And to those who have succeeded, who have achieved, please hold out a hand. Help someone else up. Offer guidance. Offer support.

“Let’s make Planet Earth a better place, a cleaner place, a greener place and a safer place.”

Why this belongs on an amateur radio website

Radio waves travel beyond borders. A callsign may tell you where a station is licensed, but it tells you very little about the person behind the microphone. Amateur radio offers the opportunity to listen, learn, exchange ideas and build friendships with people whose lives may be quite different from our own.

For M3JWK, the aim is to approach every contact with courtesy, curiosity and respect. We do not have to share a belief or an opinion to share a conversation.

The station motto is a personal paraphrase. The BBC wording is quoted only to explain its inspiration. M3JWK is an independent amateur radio station, with no BBC affiliation.
